Richmond Yards Residential Lobby Murals
Art at an architectural scale.
Throughout Richmond Yards, architecture, material and art come together to shape the experience of home well beyond the individual residence.
SperryDesign created a series of large-scale murals for the residential lobbies, transforming expansive walls and transitional spaces into immersive architectural features. Conceived specifically for their surroundings, the installations respond to the scale, geometry and material character of the buildings while extending the visual language of Richmond Yards into the interiors.
Two distinct artistic directions give the spaces their own character.
The first draws from the geometry of Richmond Yards and King’s Square, combining sweeping arcs, strong diagonals and layered forms with subtle references to the site and its surroundings. Deep blues, stone textures and restrained metallic tones create a composition that feels simultaneously graphic and architectural—bold at a distance, intricate on closer inspection.
The second takes a quieter, more abstract approach. Softened arcs, repeating vertical bands and overlapping fields of colour create rhythm across walls, corners and changing planes. Rather than tell a literal story, the artwork works with proportion, movement and materiality, bringing warmth and visual continuity to the raw concrete and contemporary architecture around it.
At this scale, the murals become more than decoration. They alter the experience of the lobbies themselves—drawing the eye through the space, responding to architectural transitions and creating moments that reveal themselves differently as residents move through the building.
Expansive, layered and unapologetically beautiful, the installations turn everyday arrival into something memorable.
