Wayfinding, beautifully considered.
At Richmond Yards, even the most functional elements are an opportunity to contribute to the character of the place.
SperryDesign created a prominent tenant directories and wayfinding features for the heart of the development, helping residents and visitors navigate the growing collection of restaurants, cafés, shops, services and amenities that define the Richmond Yards community.
Designed as an architectural element rather than simply a sign, the directory pairs deep, understated tones with warm metallic detailing, custom iconography and a finely layered geometric pattern. The restrained palette and precise typography give the installation a quiet sophistication, complementing the surrounding architecture, landscaping and public realm.
The structure is designed to be experienced from multiple approaches. One face provides an elegant overview of Richmond Yards’ tenants, while the adjoining elevation introduces clear directional information for King’s Square, dining, shopping, cafés and parking. Together, they create an intuitive point of orientation without adding visual noise to the environment.
Large in scale but deliberately restrained in expression, the directories demonstrates how practical wayfinding can become part of a broader sense of place - refined, useful and completely integrated into the Richmond Yards experience.
